Green Swamp Cue Sheet

Looking for the one of the best rides in Brunswick County?  You know that swamps often provide their own natural water-to-air convection cooling.  If intereted, drive to Supply and take the first left down 211 past Hardees.  Follow Big Macedonia Rd (State 1342) which takes a right in 1.3 miles.  Keep going NW 3.2 miles until you see a little Baptist Church with Grass parking.

Parking at the Little Baptist church Go NW 7.5 miles NW on State 1342.  Stay strait as State 1340 connects in Makatoka headed NW and then west.  Ride about 4 miles to Exum and take a right on State 1335.  Ride for 5.6 miles and take a left on Kingstown Rd headed SW.  Ride 3.5 Miles to take a right at State 1326.  Ride .9 miles to the Hwy 130 intersection and a short (.2) jog to the right puts you at the scenic Waccamaw river.  Check out the fish and game mounts at the bait store; Ever seen a 10 lb Bow fish?  Refill the water bottles or catch a picnic lunch.  Double back (1.1 miles) down State 1326 until you get back to the Kingstown road turn and take the small veer right down Sate 1333. Ride 2.9 miles until the pavement ends and take a right down State 1330.  You will pass restrooms at Waccamaw Park, just before the School.   The 1.2 mile ride takes you to the left turn at Hwy 130.  Ride single file on the ample bike lane down 1.7 miles to the left at State Rd 1331.  Ride 1.2 Miles East to Stout Rd. (1332) and take the right turn.  Riding 2 miles down to State 1335, then take a right turn.  Ride south about 1.2 miles until you re-intersect Hwy 130.   Ride South on the bike lane to Shallotte.  You should get to Bojangles or Wendy's in 4.7 miles.  The left turn on old 17 is .7 miles, with a careful regard for traffic.  Head into downtown Shallotte and a dozens of restaurants (Mexican, fast food and Chili's), riding through town 2.2 miles to connect with New hwy 17.  Follow the parking lots on the right turn, up to the church and ride a short .3 miles down new 17 to the left turn at Royal Oak Rd (State 1345).  Ride for 3.9 miles NE until you come to a right turn on State 1353.  Hang right for a half mile until you're back on State 1342 and just another .3 miles left to get back to your car on this nearly 45 mile scenic Green Swamp Loop bike route.   Enjoy it.\\
